Dear Friends, Dodger has Passed Away

It is with very heavy heart that Dodoger's people must report that today, January 21, 2018 at approximately noon Eastern Standard time, Dodger passed on after a week long battle with a mystery illness. Every effort was made to determine what was the root cause, but we could ascertain that in time to save him.  He died in his "dad" arms.

In future, this blog will become Cha-Cha's blog, but will retain the Dodger name out of respect.  Cha-Cha loved and respected her uncle Dodger and would daily greet him when the "dog shifts" changed at the house.

Aria will now be doing her "shifts" alone, I think deep down she will miss him.  Dogs are a little more in the moment than us Humans.

Rest in Peace Dodger, we love you forever.

My dear sister has left us...

Hello my faithful readers,

Today was the end of the road for Kyokko, she was riddled with cancer and in discomfort.  She had a great run and me and the other dogs will miss her greatly.  Rest in peace dear, rest in peace.

Hi Readers, well, as promised, we did see a strange dog passing though our property the other day, I did not get close enough to sort him out, not sure what breed it was, but he sure was big!
I will ask the alphas what I should do next time a meet this guy!

Its been a long year since I entered something

Seems like I am a super lazy blogger.... I will find some new pics from this summer soon!

Summer's 'proachin', Think I'll relax a bit!

Hello readers!  Been quite some time since I entered a new snippet of info.  Lots of things going on in our doggy-lives.... my neices, Salsa and Cha Cha have grown up into fine young lady-dogs (mini-bitches) and are sharing our space here at the farm.  There's a small pic of them on the right hand sidebar of this blog page.  Me, my sister and Aria are business as usual, sleeping, eating, playing and so on, regular dog stuff.  There are some other new things around, more of those two legged puppies, and even a new Cat in the family (how disgusting).  Lately, it is getting harder to hang out in the yard, as the black-flies are here in force, not my favorite thing!

I will try to update the blog a little more often, but it is hard with no thumbs!

Peace - Dodger!

Here's that darn Cat - his name is Whiskers ... he lives with our great-grandma, not here!

Wow, I am I lazy or what?!!!

Sorry dear Readers, seems I have forgotten to update my blog for quite some time.  I will be posting some new material really soon!  My nieces Cha Cha and Salsa are over 6 months old now, and have really grown.  Summer is winding down for another year up here in the Taiga north, we are enjoying less bugs and heat now.  More to follow, wags to all, Dodger.

New dogs in our pack! WooHoo!

Its getting to be a bigger pack at our place... Aria, who you will remember as I mentioned previously, went on a suspicious weekend to Michigan and came back with a smile on her face. She had been getting really big around the middle lately, and then all of a sudden the other day, our old room got whipped into shape and made up for her and her 6 new puppies who started arriving overnight. Three boys, three girls.... and their Dad is my Bro! Go figure! Makes me an uncle! I am really interested in meeting those little dogs, so far me and Kyokko have been keeping our distance at the request of our Alphas. I've got a feeling its gonna be a fun winter in our kennel!

More to follow! Best regards - Uncle Dodger!

Hi there readers! Just to let you now that our gal Aria took off with the alpha-bitch last week and came back smelling of some other dog... not sure I like that, but now she seems a whole lot more interesting! Wonder what that was all about! Stay tuned to my blog! Woofs to all! Dodge!

Still lazing about... hey, you woke me up!
The Alphas are creating a new dog patio for us this year, should be ready by the time the bugs are not so bad! Lots of new things going on around our kennel, strange men doing work, lots of weird vehicles which Aria keeps growling at, a lot of fuss if you ask me. That's it for now, just checking on the blog, yes, I am a lazy blog-dog!
Peace - Dodger!

Strange Dogs on our patch....
Seems like this spring a bunch of these weird looking dogs started hanging out around our house... the Alpha-bitch saw one chasing a skunk up the driveway last fall, so I guess they are pretty tough... I'd sure like to go a few rounds with this one, wipe that smart look off its face!

Wow, I am a REALLY lazy dog!

Greetings readers (if I still have any!). We've had a good winter here on the farm, spring is looming which means its not long until the blackflies are here... whoopee! Our alphas are still working on the pack's kennel, they will be doing something called "siding" once things dry up a little. I am looking forward to getting out for more walks with the alpha dog.

That's all for now, I will post some new pictures soon!

Dodger says - peace!

Wow, where does the time go!

Hi readers! I must apologize for being a lazy dog and sleeping much much more than blogging! Summer was wet for us here on the farm, and we did not get out as much as we would have liked, all sorts of fuss about muddy paws and so on! Me and Kyokko turned two a few weeks back, so we are officially adult dogs now! (but do we get more treats?) . Lately Aria has become obsessed with mousing, and she caught one the other day, so now she is totally nutty and can't stop hunting! Too much effort if you ask me, though I did enjoy sniffing around where the mouse had been!

The alphas had some fun the other day, they went out the back and took some pictures of one really large and weird looking dog, here's his picture!  (Picture to be replaced  - problems reposting it for now)  Too bad their camera had condensation on the lens, whatever that means!

That's all for now, more to follow! Regards - Dodger!

February already!

Hi readers, not a lot of news so far this year, we've been living in the deep cold, alternating with weird really warm weather! So far, its more cold than warm. The alphas have been taking us out in our forest for walks, there are so many tracks in the snow from other beasts... some like our own feet, many which are weird and worth tracking. Kyokko is the best at tracking, she's nose down the whole time! There are way more interesting smells here than back in the city. Me, I just like to look at everything and lift my leg a lot! More to follow readers, will have some forest pics soon! Best wishes - Dodger!

I've been a busy Dog!

Hi everyone! Bet you're wondering if I was abducted by aliens - not yet!

Sorry for the delay in letting you all know what's been spinning round the food bowl lately, but soon I will post some news about the Christmas thing at our place, there sure was a lot of stuff going on, with lots of visitors and strange things happening! More to follow soon!

Yours truly - Dodger!

Howdy Folks! Just saying hello! My alpha-bitch had a birthday this week, and she got a new thing that flashes when she points it at you.... seems to make all those alphas happier for some reason!

She also got these cool things that she can strap on her feet to she does not sink in the snow!

We are hearing that we will be soon going to the show of shows for Akita dogs.. the AKC National Akita Specialty... so we are leaving Dad and Aria at home, and heading to the states!

Will have to let you all know how that goes... won't be so many ribbons this time!

That's all for now, yours truly Dodger!

Another Show!

While most Canadians were doing the turkey thing, we dogs were doing the Show thing! Me, Kyokko and Aria were busy, each in the ring at least 6 times! I aced it again, got best of winners... which seems to be important to my Alphas! Its the purple and yellow ribbon in the middle! We got lots of firsts, seconds, Winners, and reserved winners too! Click on the image to enlarge it! It was all pretty cool, but we are glad to be home and sleeping peacfully! Sincerly, Dodger!

Happy Birthday To Us!!!!!

Hey readers, it's party-time!
Me and my sis' Kyokko just turned one year old recently! Woohoo!

Can't really call us Puppies anymore!
So, like we wore these really uncomfortable hats for the picture cuz the Alphas wanted us to, but really we don't give a damn about celebrating birthdays, we just wanna play all day!

Weather's still great up here in our territory, trees seem to be turning yellow and red, wonder what that means!!!! Best regards - Dodger

Another commrade has passed

Dear Readers, Sadly, we've learned that our distant cousin Kelsey the beagle, who lived with our great-grand-alpha Helen has gone to join the spirit dog pack. She lived to the fine old age of 14, just like our departed Hanabi. Kelsey gave many good years of her life as a friend and companion of our greater pack. Enjoy your rest Kelsey, we will see you later on. - Sincerely, Dodger

I'm a Show Dog now!

Hi again readers!!! This past weekend, my Alpha-bitch took me and my sister to something the Alphas call a "Dog Show". We had a long drive in the mobile kennel, and then we got to parade around with lots of other dogs watching, I got a point but Kyokko did not (guess I'm cuter) !

Seems like a good thing, we get out of the home territory, and lots of folks clap when we run around - what's not to like? We did stay in something called a "Comfort Inn" which was not that comfortable, smelled like other Alpha's had been there, though Kyoko was much more relaxed about it - but she's been to other shows already, this one was my first!

- best wishes, Dodger

Another Passing

Hi dear Readers, Dodger here.... we received some sad news that our friend "Bud" who was featured earlier in my blog, suffered from a very sudden brain tumour, and has passed away. On behalf our our Akita pack, we'd like to extend our sincerest condolences to Bud's family.

Our pack has suffered a loss....

My dear readers, Dodger here. Recently, our old friend and pack member Hanabi, found the weight of time catching up with her, now she has gone to join with all the spirit dogs who have gone before us. We miss her, she taught all us youngsters some great lessons, but we know we'll see her again someday, so for now, farewell Ms. Hana!

The Pack has moved!

Dodger here! Well, it has been a long time since my last post... the Alphas have been moving us around, and finally planted us in our new territory, way up in North Eastern Ontario. Our little yard in Toronto seems like a flea on the St. Bernard's back when you compare it to our new hunting grounds... over 100 acres (whatever that means!). So far we have been on lots of walks around the edges of the open space, and even a little way into the 80 acre forest... lots of weird smells in there, big black dogs with humpy backs and bad odour! Strange tall dogs with long skinny legs and white tails, and lots of noisy birds too! We aint in Kansas any more Toto! Kyokko is beginning to settle in, Aria has been out on unauthorized safari once, old Hanabi is having a great time, gaining weight cuz she's got better appetite - all that fresh air, and I am just getting bigger and friendlier as time goes by! We love it here, just wish our Dad was here more often, he's away hunting a lot! More news to follow soon! - D

My Sister lives with us now!

Hi everyone!

My litter pal and sister dog is now part of our pack... Meet Kyokko, (pronounced "Kee-yoh-ko") she's even friendlier than me! I will post some better pictures later!

She's a really nice girl, for a bitch!

Regards - Dodger!

The Bowl Trick

Well, as promised, I told you I could carry the dinner bowls around, here is a still of me doing so! I have a video of myself which I have emailed to various people (and certain Cats), so that ends the debate that started down there in Virginy - yours truly, Dodger

'Merican Cat Challenge

Seems like some cats from Virginia have decided that Dogs are not capable of fancy tricks, like you've ever seen a cat do anything more special than hacking up a hairball! Stay tuned folks, I can carry my bowl from where I eat back to the kitchen, and I clean up after my pal Aria too!

Stupid cats! Just wait and see....

January is passing

Hi everyone, not much to report so far this year, I am getting bigger, my alphas will post another picture soon! I weigh 36 pounds now and have learned to carry my dinner bowl from my crate to the kitchen when mom calls!

Had a good Christmas thing!

Our pack expanded this week, we had all sorts of visitors, and one special two legged puppy too! We had lots of weird things to eat, and everyone stayed up way past crate time! It was cool!

Even Aria ran out of steam for a while!

So we've been chillin' out ever since, laying around, eating gourmet dog treats, enjoying that our Alphas are home a whole lot more than usual! That's the best part.

The Pack is on vacation!

Much to my Dodger-delight, our whole pack is home today, apparently getting ready for this Christmas thing for at least a week, which makes my tail wag! Howling for the holidays!

Those little email icons

Hi there all you dogs! I've added the ability to email copies of each post to your friends as you see fit... that way you can make me, Dodger, more famous!

My girl-pal Aria

We've had a great weekend playing - plus the Alphas took Friday off from hunting (like they seem to go hunting all day from Monday to Fridays usually) and stayed home with the pack, so me and Aria had extra time horsing around, roaring around the house, knocking into furniture, getting into the garbage, driving Hanabi nuts, in general, normal puppy stuff! They told me that a thing called Christmas is coming, so I will chew that when I see it! That's all for now, Dodge!

A walk around the block

All of us dogs went for a good walk today, me and Hanabi went together, as she does not pull much (unlike Aria) and I am too busy learning about all the cool stuff in the world to bother pulling just now, I'll probably try that out later! I am posting some pictures of the girl dogs for your info!

Monday, December 11, 2006

I'm 20 lbs now!

Mom just weighed me this morning, I am now 20 pounds, so I have nearly doubled my weight since coming home!

Sunday, December 10, 2006

I'm learning every day!

Yesterday morning, Mom (the alpha-bitch) was looking at that magic window thing in the living room, and when she pushed on that little black box, the window lit up, and I heard the sound that goes with the picture... cool, I now know how she makes the window work! Played hard with Aria again this weekend, last Monday I went to school with her, I am hoping to go again this coming Monday, to see all of the other dogs in the class! That's all for now, I gotta get some more sleep! Dodger out!

Dodger's Blog

Well, my Dad (Robin) asked me if I would like to take over this Blog, so I am now Dodger the Blog Dog! Watch here as my little life unfolds into a bigger life! Feel free to send me comments, and dog treats too!

Dodger's ears are up!

Well for those of you who don't know about Akita puppies, they are born with floppy ears, which will eventually stand up on their own (you don't have to mutilate an Akita to have it look like they should!), usually the ears pop up at around 3 months! Dodger is about three months now, he is really becoming a great dog, still a little small, but with great potential! He is able to beat on his larger sibling Aria and get away with it (though I think she lets him!)

New Day

So its a new day, our dogs are up and about - three of them! Hanabi, our oldest, she's 14, still hanging in, sometimes even playful. Then there's Aria, at 6 months, she is the most hyperactive puppy we've had in some time, she seems to be missing her off switch! And finally, the new guy, Dodger, our future big boy dog. He is a kind and gentle soul with us, but treats Aria, who is much large than him, as just another puppy and is quite fierce with her!

I will post some pictures soon!
